The Challenge

Huawei Mobile wanted a way to celebrate the launch of their first-ever gaming monitor in Ireland. This was their first time trying to target the typically hard-to-reach Irish gaming audience which is why they pulled in Epic Global to help!

The approach

The launch coincided with the release of FIFA 22 which is why we decided to host Ireland’s largest FIFA 22 tournament! The tournament was hosted online over the course of a week, with the finals being streamed live from the Huawei HQ.

To promote the tournament, we ran a series of sponsored social content & engaged with over 10 Irish creators with a combined reach of over 500,000 to promote on their social channels. We then created a series of content around promoting the live finals to encourage people to tune in.

We managed all technical aspects of the live event, streaming it via the Huawei Ireland YouTube Channel. We had 2 of Irelands best Fifa players casting the event whilsts our two finalists battled it out to win the €2k prize pool. The event was attended by a range of sports stars across Rugby, Hurling & esports including Declon Hannon & Ross Byrne.

tHE reSULTS

A number of Ireland’s key gaming KOLs were engaged to promote both the tournament and livestream in addition to 2 key Sporting celebrities secured to promote, attend and participate in the livestream event. The 60 minute stream was a first of its kind in the country and received over 7.5k views with KOL activity gaining a reach of over 283,000 people.
